Basicly what this does is when the value of field1 is example, it dissappears on click. lets break the code down some more.

This is where we declare our function.

if(document.form1.field1.value=='example'){
var value=document.form1.field1.value='';

This code checks if example is the value and if it is it replaces it with nothing.
