CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

Adobe Website

www.adobe.com
  Obviously the best website for Adobe related things.

Shape Selection Tools

You will always need to make a shape to fill it with a color etc.
    Options:
  Rectangular Marquee Tool
  Elliptical Marquee Tool
  Single Row Marquee Tool
  Single Column Marquee tool

Move Tool

Use the Move Tool to move any shape inside of a layer around if need be. If you have the Move Tool selected, you can also use the arrow keys to move an object around.

Custom Selection Tools

You can make a custom shape-selection with one of these tools.
    Options:
  Lasso Tool
  Polygonal Lasso Tool
  Magnetic Lasso Tool

Magic Wand Tool

This can be useful for selecting an object (maybe a render) on a basic background.

Crop Tool

Good for personal photos, this is a good way to quickly remove what edges of the photo you don%u2019t want.

Slicing Tools

These are useful for beginners in template-designing.

Image Healing Tools

These are what most people use for Photo-Retouch jobs.

Brushing & Pencil Tools

The Brush and Pencil tools, these are very common and useful tools.

Clone Stamp Tools

Similar to the Image Healing Tools, the the stamp-tool only copies from one place to another.

Airbrushes

Similar to the brush tool.

Erasers

Erase that unwanted speck.

Paint Bucket & Gradient Tools

Useful filling tools.

Image Adjustment Tools

Blur, Sharpen & Smudge that image!

Burn, Dodge & Sponge

Burn = Darken
  Dodge = Brighten
  Sponge = Saturate or Desaturate

Paths Selection Tools

For selecting a path made with the pen tool.

Text Tools

A very important tool in Photoshop, the most common Text Tool is the Horizontal one.

Path & Pen Tools

Good for Vector work or for making nice curvy lines for any reason.

Custom Shapes

Want a different and intriguing shape? It%u2019s best to look in here for them.

Notes Tool

You can add notes to your .PSD file with this.

Eye Dropper Tool

You can sample colors from any image or document with this tool. It will go to your Foreground color.

Hand Tool

If your document is too big you can move around easily with the hand tool.

Magnifying Glass

This is a very useful tool for Photoshop, especially in making web-templates. You can zoom in up to 1600%.

The Colors

Foreground and Background colors, the main one is Foreground, say when you sample a color with the Eye Dropper Tool, it will go directly to the foreground color.
  You can swap the colors by pressing X, reset the colors to B&W by pressing D.

Edit in Standard Mode

If you%u2019re new to Photoshop, I wouldn%u2019t recommend touching this one.

Edit in Quick Mask Mode

If you%u2019re new to Photoshop, I wouldn%u2019t recommend touching this one either.

Change the Look of Photoshop

This can remove the top part of Photoshop, and if you don%u2019t know what you did and get distressed, don%u2019t worry, just press F a couple of times.

Swap over to ImageReady

ImageReady usually comes with Photoshop, so if you want to do some animating, click that button.
