Gold-Bar Text Effect Learn how to make some nice and simple golden text.

In this tutorial I'll be showing you how to make some cool, gold-bar-styled text.

Start by creating a new document in Photoshop, use any dimensions.
Now fill the Background with a very dark color or gradient, I used a gradient of #343434 & #161616.

Using the Horizontal Type Tool, write out your text in a nice, thick font. The font I used is called Marvelouz DSG, the color I used was #d59018.

After writing out your text, right-click the text layer in the layer's palette and go into the Blending Options, apply the following layer styles:

1. Drop Shadow
2. Inner Shadow
3. Bevel and Emboss
4. Gradient Overlay
5. Pattern Overlay

If you followed all those layer styles correctly, you should now have text that looks like this:

Lastly for the text, I added in a nice, glossy-shine kind of thing to the top part of the text. If you don't know how to do that, follow these simple steps:

1. Create a new layer, make selection around text (hold ctrl and click text layer thumbnail. preview
2. On the new layer, drag a white to transparent gradient inside of the text selection. preview
3. With either the pen tool, or one of the selection tools, select the bottom half of the white gradient and delete it. preview
4. Change layer mode to either Soft Light or Overlay, also lower opacity to 40-65%. preview

Lastly for this tutorial, I added in some nice filter-effects.
Some good filter effects:

1. Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen
2. Filter > Artistic > Film Grain
3. Filter > Blur > Gaussion Blur
4. Filter > Brush Strokes > Angled Strokes
