Leah’s Big Pink Bubble Bursts
Earlier this year, Leah Culver appeared on the cover of a tech magazine blowing an enormous pink bubble. 26 year old young entrepreneur Leah had created a Twitter knockoff called Pownce which was backed by Digg founder Kevin Rose but now Leah has decided she is fed up of being a internet celebrity and has announced she is shutting down Pounce. Leah wrote on the Pownce blog that:
"We have some very big news today at Pownce. We will be closing the service and Mike and I, along with the Pownce technology, have joined Six Apart, the company behind such great blogging software as Movable Type, TypePad and Vox. We’re bittersweet about shutting down the service but we believe we’ll come back with something much better in 2009. We love the Pownce community and we will miss you all."
Is this just a excuse so some people don't realize that Pownce was a huge failure? Why would anyone ever just shut down a website if it was a success, point proven?
