Hi Shane,
My advice would be to start a site on something you are passionate about. A good way to do this is to start a blog on the topic and start writing about related topics. It's easy to write about something you are passionate about and that way you know you are writing in your style, your ideas and what you belive in. Automatically it will be unique content as it is written by you and thought out by you. Don't look at what other people have written and topics they have covered. Forget about keyword optimization, just write from your heart. Google loves content and I can garanteed, if your content is unique and written with your own ideas Google will index it and rank it high as it will be unique and will have different keywords from what others have written. Say you love open source systems, you can write about why you like them, the programs you like best, review the programs, compare them, talk about related plugins or extensions, give links to related sites etc. There are many ways of developing content and the best is to provide valuable information to your visitors. Keep your visitor first, provide useful content, the rest will follow. You can earn money through this by offering advertising on your site or by adding Google Adwords. Later you can make it a business by offering to install open source systems in client sites and customizing it for them. This is just an example as I know web development, but you can folow this in any field :) Just follow your passion and develop good content on it. Don't think about it, just do it. Even if it has been done before, do it from our angle and it will be different. The important thing is to start on it, believe in it, work hard at it and persevere! |

Rachna, hope you can help me out.
I own a blog, that I was running just fine. I decided I wanted to go with a whole new design, new features, etc. So I set out for a 2.0 of the blog. Everything was going smooth until it came time to get my theme coded. My coder crapped out on my and now I'm left with a great design and no coder, missing my timeline. What advice do you think you could give me for now, and for future situations of the same idea? Regards, - Mark Cuda |

Add links to social bookmarking sites so you have links to your tutorials/articles from many sources 4. Get as many related sites linking to your pages It's important to get a lot of sites linking to your site as Google gives a lot of importance to this while ranking sites. Hi StandOutBlogger,
It took about 6 to 10 months to see signs of success as it took approx. that much time to be ranked well on Google. I was motivated by a strong desire to get on the first page of Google search results and I did what I know is always successful with Google which is good content and a large number of sites linking to your site. I never thought of failure. It was a very exciting time as I had to prove to myself that I could do it :) |
