Young Entrepreneur Contest
Here is another online article that got my attention - this time over at Entrepreneur.com
According to Entrepreneur.com:
If you’re an entrepreneur between the ages of 12 and 19, this contest is for you. Financial author and speaker Peter Bielagus is writing an entrepreneurship guide for tweens and teens. But first, he wants to hear from this demographic on the struggles they face as aspiring entrepreneurs. So he’s asking youngsters to submit a 250 word essay describing their business, how they came up with the idea, how they got started (or plan to get started), what obstacles they’ve faced and what they would do with the $1,000 grand prize.
The top 100 storytellers will receive a free book, and the $1,000 grand prize will be awarded to the entrepreneur with the best tale, who will also receive a day of entrepreneurial coaching from Bielagus.
MY OBSERVATIONS
1) Great to see that an Authority Site like Entrepreneur.com is recognising and taking seriously the fact that Young Entrepreneurs are getting YOUNGER these days - before we know it, teen entrepreneurs will almost be mainstream
Thank you Entrepreneur.com - I appreciate it is not your contest, but the fact you are mentioning it on your website is a very healthy sign for us Teen Entrepreneurs.
2) Don’t want to sound mean - but the prize is a bit lame - do they not know that $1000 to many Young Entrepreneurs is not really a lot of money. Now, if the prize was say $50,000 Investment in your new business idea - that might get a bit more attention. That said, I do of course appreciate that for many, the prestige of winning and indeed the entrepreneurial coaching from Bielagus will be the real motivation to enter.
I am not entering - but perhaps some of RetireAt21’s many young entrepreneurs would like to?
