Is it really better to be an Internet Entrepreneur than work at Starbucks?

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday I was sitting at Starbucks thinking about my business and how hard it can be sometimes. I asked myself would it be better for me to work at Starbucks instead of running my own Internet business. I decided to write down what’s best about both jobs:

Internet Entrepreneur Starbucks Employee
Income I earn more every hour while I sleep then a Starbucks employee makes during work! $7 a hour! Not Great
Reliability Some Days I make a lot, some days nearly nothing! Every month I get my pay cheque and its always the same.
Stress Some days I get very stressed out trying to earn money My work isn’t stressful!
Responsibility’s I have a lot of responsibility’s! I have to make sure there’s always plenty of coffee!
Life Style I can do what I want, when I want! If I want to go away I need to give 4 weeks notice.
Social I can go days with out seeing anyone! Every day I see 1000’s of people!
Opportunity Everyday I get offered a new opportunity to make more money! I hope I don’t have to work here for long!

Income
- When working for Starbucks you know you can only earn $7 a hour but if you were running your own Internet business you could earn as much as you like a hour and as little as you like.

Reliability - the best thing about Starbucks is that you know you will always have a job there and every month you will make the same money and it will appear in your bank. With a Internet business you don’t know if there will be much work and how much you will earn.

Stress - Running your own business can be very stressful, you constantly have to worry about making sure you make enough money to live.

Responsibility’s - when you work for someone else you typically don’t have much responsibility, if you do something wrong you may get fired but you can always find another job. If a business owner makes a mistake they can loose everything! Recently a restaurant in my area decided to fire a young girl who worked for him because she was pregnant, she ended up taking him to court and won $20,000 and he had to file for bankruptcy.

Life Style - You can have any life style you like with a Internet business, you can choose when and what you want to do. Working for a company means you have to be somewhere at a curtain time. If you want time off you have to give notice and are only allowed so much time off.

Social - The worst thing for me working from home is that I don’t get to interactive with other people. At Starbucks you get to see 100s of people every hour and work with friends.

Opportunity’s - Everyday I get emails from people offering me opportunity’s to joint venture, partner up and requesting to advertise on my website’s. My friend has worked for Starbucks for 2 years and hasn’t once been offered a raise or promotion!

To Your Success,

I would say the best thing about internet business rather than starbucks is the opportunities. If you keep at it, you’ll go far. If you work hard at surving coffee, you’ll just make the company more money, but there almost no opportunities to end up making a lot more money.

If I were you I must leave starbucks and do my own enterprise via internet. There are lots of chances on internet beyond your imagination.$7 a hour is nothing, let say you work 8 hours daily to earn $56.In starbucks you earn $1680 a month,$20,160 one year.It seem like that reliability is good,in fact,it is not.Suppose one day starbucks cut staffs, you get fired what would you do?You have to look for new job,may need new ability. And,it is not free, you get restricted.
If you start to do your internet enterprise,it may need some monthes to learn much thing. But at last you can earn more than $3000 per month easily.I know there so so many persons get such income based on 2 or 3 hours per day.In the begining it is hard but at last you get free, what you should do is to find a tutor,or you can learn by yourself on forums.
Forget starbucks and do your own thing. Why not become a boss and live freely.
In fact I’m also a beginner but now I know what I should do.You can email me to learn skill together.

Starbucks will always be there for you if for some reason things don’t turn out with the internet business.

If I worked at Starbucks my whole life, without taking a real ’shot’ at success, well, I don’t think I could live with myself.

I really like that you brought up this topic. But starbucks isn’t the best one to compare it too, maybe some other jobs, that pay more :). And I wanted to ask, but about health insurance, and taxes how do webmasters pay for that because isn’t that taken out of your paycheck?

Nice comparison Michael. How about doing both? Blogging part time, and working&socializing part time at Starbucks? I believe one can get a lot of blogging ideas while dealing with real life and people.
