Todd Masonis – Young Entrepreneur Interview

Just a quick heads up – RetiredAt21.com has been very fortunate to pull of an Interview with Todd Masonis – co-founder and Vice President of Products for Plaxo.com

A highly recommended read.

In particular I liked his reply to “What is the best advice you have ever been given?”

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” – Buddha

AND in reply to raising Venture Capital he says:

I think it’s very easy to focus on trying to raise money. But in my experience, raising money is a big distraction and can cause more problems. It’s much easier to raise money when you don’t need it, so I would focus entirely on building a great product and getting users. If you can do that, VCs will come to you and you will work out a much better deal.
