Get Out Of Debt For Good | Financial Freedom Is A Choice

Get Out Of Debt For Good

My Irish Grandmother often likes to say: “A penny saved is a penny earned.”
She probably does not know it - but this is actually a quote from Benjamin Franklin.
Personally I often found this desire to save pennies all the time more a symptom of poverty consciousness rather than a real desire to make money - and those people who quote it often are very insecure about money and have little or no awareness of the LAW OF ATTRACTION.
That said, there is no reason to waste money - and the slightly older I get the more I realise that my real objective is a LIFESTYLE rather than a desire to be MEGA RICH. Sure, I want wealth, but I think more accurately I want FINANCIAL FREEDOM.
Now FINANCIAL FREEDOM is almost just as much related to our NEEDS - what we want - as it is to our MONEY WEALTH.
Plenty of people have lots of money, and by anyone’s standards are RICH, but the do not have FINANCIAL FREEDOM because their needs, desires (Toys, Homes, Holidays, Cars) are as great or greater as their day to day income, while of course plenty of other people are not RICH in the money sense, but if you ask them, they have more or less everything they need.
Again, to quote my Irish Grandmother, “many people have too much MONTH left over at the end of the MONEY”
I guess a better way to put it, is that we almost all desire BALANCE - and as I am here in Ghana and see much poverty around me, I am impressed at just how HAPPY these “poor” people are.
Don’t get me wrong - I am not saying I don’t want to make lots of money - I am saying that for me FINANCIAL FREEDOM, BALANCE and QUALITY OF LIFE go together.
So here is a link to a useful article that hopefully some of you will find useful. It is about getting out of DEBT - not so much about MAKING money - but as hopefully the above explains: “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

Tips that I really liked are:
Build an emergency fund: As you attack your debt, remember to put away a small amount for the rainy day. If something unexpected comes along or if you are forced to borrow money again, you will have a rough time getting out of debt. So stash away small amounts of money in an emergency fund, and make sure you use it – well, only for emergencies
and
Change your spending habits: Do you always plan before you buy something or do you just pick things up? Do you ask yourself if you really “need” it, or justify your “wants” and keep indulging yourself? Do you spend an excessive amount of money on showing off to your friends? Take a long hard look at your spending habits and fix any short comings that you see.
Until next time - KEEP PROSPERING

I too feel we should aim for a lifestyle and not just want to be rich. That life/work balance is hard to achieve though but ultimately worth it.
Hi Michael,
. Good luck!
This is probably one of the smartest things I have heard a person your age say in a long time. Actually most people I come in contact with, no matter what age, don’t understand the truths about financial freedom.
It doesn’t matter how much money you have, if you are not able to manage what you have you are likely to loose it.
With proper long term investing, staying out of debt, and living under your income, I am very confident that you will become a wealthy man.
Great blog! I think you are on to something really good here
