Every Website Needs Constructive Criticism | Problogger Community Consultation
by Michael Posted in BloggingSome of our visitors may all ready be aware of this - but in case you are not, RetireAt21.com has been subject to the Community Consultation Process at Problogger.net. The review / consultation went live on the 5th February - and you can see it here: Problogger community consultation for RetireAt21.com

The generosity of people at Problogger.net is amazing and being able to see “my” site as others see it, was most helpful. I was not 100% sure what to expect by community consultation - but now I have gone through the process I can say I have no regrets. It may well one day, be the single “thing” that made the biggest difference in taking R21 to where I want to take it.
Most of the feedback / comments I received was very fair and balanced. I have a huge amount of work to do, that is for sure.
One thing in particular that impressed me was that so many people did a whole lot more than just vaguely look the site over. I feel RetireAt21.com was well and truly examined and I accept that in many areas there are failings. This was precisely the reason why I took the advice of my father (Barry Dunlop) and also my good friend Dean Hunt who suggested applying for community consulting.
Sure, the “ego” gets a little bit crushed when you do something like this - especially when this “perfect” site that you think you have is not so perfect after all.
Well, to be honest, I never thought it was that perfect
Over next week or so I will be announcing some changes - and I will also be looking for offers of help, especially with regards to programming and content issues. Feel free to offer your help / your own feedback in the comments.
By the way - the cost of this consultation was $250. In my opinion, perhaps the best $250 I have ever spent.
Until next time - Keep Prospering

I think $250 was probably a bargain. Your blog was broadcast out to ProBlogger’s 40k+ RSS readers and the comments like you said were very thorough.
I look forward to seeing you implement some of these changes.
I have no doubt Tom - it was a bargain. Knowing what I know now - I would have paid more, but truthfully, if Problogger was charging the True Value (say $500) - then the chances are I would have not had it done. So Problogger have the pricing just about right in my opinion.
